THE BEGINNINGS

Monday, May 14, 2001 marked the end to one chapter of a 3 month relationship with a "special friend" -- his name is V. I hope its's only the beginning of a longer journey. I will miss those evenings talks and our weekends together. We first met on the net on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2001. I think we were both lonely. Except for one weekend, almost every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday were spent together. Likewise, every evening we chatted for hours. The weekend trips were not easy since we lived over 300 miles apart.

Vy's last opportunity to chat from Wyoming occurred on Friday, May 4, 2001. These were his last words, so similar to the way we first met. I wanted to share them:

"But before I sign off, I shall say this…

But soft! What light through yonder window breaks?
It is the east, and JJ [that is me] is the sun.
Arise fair sun and slay the envious moon
Who is already sick and pale with grief.
That thou her maid art far more fair than she.

Good night !
Good night !
Parting is such sweet sorrow that I shall say good night till morrow.

Good night sweet prince, may flights of angels sing thee to thy rest."

THANK YOU V FOR A SPECTACULAR TIME!! -- IT HAS CHANGED MY LIFE FOREVER... When you wish upon a star -- your dreams do come true !!

That "special friend" returned to Madison, Wisconsin where he completed work on a PHD. Our final days together in Wyoming were spent at Yellowstone National Park. This was one of the most enjoyable trips I ever took -- 10 days. It was beautiful and we virtually had the place to ourselves. When we parted on Monday morning (May 14), we both turned to each other and said, "See you next weekend". Oh... if it could be true...

After May 14, 2001 we kept in touch via the telephone. We found time every evening to just talk. I looked forward to those conversations -- strange how a relationship developed over net chat, a dinner, a ski trip, and then those cold winter weekends.
